Senator Nordquist Selected to Lead National Legislative Health Committee
Nebraska state senator becomes Chairman of NCSL Health Committee
(Omaha, NE) - Nebraska State Senator Jeremy J. Nordquist will lead the health efforts of the nation's state legislators, as the Chairman of the Health Committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL). NCSL is a bipartisan organization that serves the nation's 7,382 state lawmakers. Senator Nordquist was selected as Chair at NCSL’s annual Legislative Summit on Wednesday, July 28, 2010.
As the voice of state legislatures on health policy within the nation’s federal system of government, the NCSL Health Committee will tackle many challenges during his 12-month tenure.
“With health policy being one the greatest challenges and opportunities facing state governments, being chosen by my peers to lead this important committee is an honor not only for me, but a special honor for the State of Nebraska,” Senator Nordquist said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues from around the country to advance policies that will improve the health of our nation's children, families and seniors.”
Nordquist previously served as a Vice-Chair of the NCSL Health Committee. He represents downtown and South Omaha in the Nebraska Legislature. He serves on the Unicameral's Appropriations Committee and Retirement Systems Committee and has been active in health policy in Nebraska.
