2009 Legislative Priorities Survey

The 2010 session is just around the corner, and I am looking forward to continuing my work in Lincoln. The upcoming session will provide a great opportunity for us to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of government and to improve the quality of life for all Nebraskans.

Please take a moment to complete this survey so that I may better serve you in the Legislature.

What do you feel is the biggest challenge that faces your family today?

Is the State of Nebraska on the right track, or is it headed in the wrong direction?

Last session, in response to the Supreme Court’s ruling that the electric chair was unconstitutional, the Legislature instated lethal injection as Nebraska’s method of execution. What further action should the Legislature take?

Last session, the Legislature passed a measure requiring all women to receive ultrasounds before aborting a pregnancy. In general, are abortion-related laws too strict, not strict enough, or are they appropriate?

Do you support allowing the University of Nebraska Medical Center to conduct research on embryonic stem cells?

Do you support the DREAM Act, which allows undocumented children of illegal
immigrants to pay only in-state tuition if they have been here for three
years and have graduated from a Nebraska high school?

Do you support allowing undocumented immigrants to obtain Nebraska drivers’
licenses if it would allow them to purchase automobile insurance?

Do you support criminal and civil fines against companies that knowingly hire or recruit undocumented immigrants?

Do you believe it should be illegal in Nebraska to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, much as it is currently illegal to discriminate on the basis of race?
